Baptisms & Christenings

An al fresco baptism

January 12, 2016

What a special day it was to witness the baptism of our daughter at the same New Orleans church where her brother was baptized last year. I was inspired by a bear that Olivia received for Christmas that recites the prayer “Now I lay me down to sleep…” I worked with designer Allie Hasson to come up with the most beautiful, hand-painted invitations, featuring one of three lines from the prayer on their backs. In lieu of flowers, I opted for olive branches for many reasons: I love their meaning of peace and goodwill; They lend themselves to Olivia’s name; and I did not want to introduce colors to the purity of white. Following the church services, we enjoyed an intimate brunch with loved ones which was equally simple and elegant.
